GEORGE E. CURRY is a Jerry Thomas Public Relations partner specializing in media counsel, media strategy and media training. George, who covered the Iraq war for the National Newspaper Association and BlackPressUSA.com, reaches more than 15 million African-American readers through his nationally syndicated column. He has worked extensively with young people aspiring to enter journalism, in Germany and Senegal as well as the United States. Formerly editor-in-chief of the National Newspaper Association’s News Service, George was editor-in-chief of Emerge magazine, which under his leadership won more than 40 national journalism awards. George was the first African-American and non-New York editor to serve as president of the American Society of Magazine Editors. Formerly a reporter for the Chicago Tribune, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Sports Illustrated, George is based in Washington, D.C.
